Dentistry

Dental hygiene is important to the health of your pet. According to the AVMA, periodontal disease is the most common clinical condition in cats and dogs. Not only is periodontal disease damaging to teeth, but it can lead to other health issues. We recommend that owners consider dental cleanings under general anesthesia for their pets every one to three years to prevent periodontal disease. While we recommend that owners brush their pet’s teeth at least once weekly, we realize that this can be a challenge with some pets. In these cases, dental cleanings may be needed more frequently.

At Whitelands Animal Hospital, an oral examination is a part of a preventative care exam, and we are happy to provide an estimate for your pet at that time. Please remember that attention to dental care can save you money in the long run, so we recommend scheduling dental cleanings before periodontal disease becomes an issue.
